Our Purpose and Aims: A Vision for Modern Freemasonry.
The Internet Lodge exists to enable Freemasons from recognised Constitutions around the world to come together for Masonic purposes and personal friendship within the setting of a regular Lodge under the United Grand Lodge of England.
- Universality: To foster Masonry Universal by enabling members of the Lodge to communicate and exchange ideas on a world-wide basis and to promote wider understanding of Freemasonry as it is practised in different Constitutions.
- Collaboration: To provide an Internet-based environment in which members of the Lodge can work together and carry out Masonic research and collaborative projects across international boundaries.
- Education: To promote Masonic education through the medium of communication technologies.
- Progress: To focus on the future of Freemasonry and in particular to lead the way in the use of new technologies for Masonic purposes.
A Timeless Foundation: Our History.
Internet Lodge No. 9659 was Consecrated on 29th January 1998 at Freemasons' Hall, Bridge Street, Manchester. The Lodge was founded after a small group of Brethren who subscribed to the UK Mason List felt the time was right for a truly universal Masonic Lodge. Our charter was granted by the United Grand Lodge of England, providing a modern home for Brethren from around the world.
The Best of Both Worlds: Physical Meetings and a Digital Community.
Physical Gatherings
All our formal Lodge meetings, ceremonies, and business are conducted in person, in accordance with the Book of Constitutions. We hold three special gatherings each year, including the Installation of our new Worshipful Master and two engaging lectures from prominent Freemasons.
Digital Community
Our day-to-day community life is supported by our digital platforms. This includes our public website, a members-only website, and a closed email list for secure communication and fellowship. This digital presence allows us to bring Masons together from all over the world, creating a truly diverse and vibrant community.
Our Values in Action.
It is one such brother who has touched the hearts of many members of Internet Lodge. This man's life is filled with the kind of tragedy that most of us could not cope with. He decided to sponsor a banner for Internet Lodge - a lodge he has been unable to visit - in memory of his wife. The banner travels proudly with us wherever the Lodge meets and reminds us of our unseen brother so far away. In his name, the Lodge made a significant donation to his local Shriner Lodge.
